Readability tool description
In 2010, the first cycle highway of Flemish Brabant was signposted.
The cycle highway was called HST-route, because it followed the High Speed Train-railway track. The branding of this route was very local.
Later on, while new cycle highways were build, our need to have a branding and naming for the whole network increased.
In 2016, these signposts were replaced by the new wayfinding system applied to all cycle highways in Flanders (network identity). The name changed from HST-route to F3.
Functionality
- Local name that can easily be used and communicated.
- Due to the local scale there are no economies of scale: more efforts are needed to bring potential users in touch with the cycling route.
- No network-branding
The HST-route is now branded as the F3 cycle highway between Leuven and Brussels. Browse the Readability Toolbox for more information on the code-logo identity-strategy in Flanders.
